MISSION
Our mission is to create a transformative and developing impact on society's artistic understanding by training music educators who possess high aesthetic values, blend artistic sensitivity with an educational approach, generate knowledge in fields related to the music teaching profession, continuously improve themselves, and use scientific methods to solve problems faced by society at national and global levels related to education and music teacher training. We also aim to play an active role in the development of a modern society.
Vision
Our vision is to train effective music teachers who can effectively teach music, to create a solid foundation for the development of society's artistic life, and to train music teachers who, inspired by their environment, have internalized the universal art of music, are aware of creative and technological developments, are sensitive to social and environmental issues, and can implement contemporary educational methods and techniques.
History
The Department of Music Education, within the Department of Fine Arts Education at Necatibey University Faculty of Education, was established in 2002. The undergraduate education offered in the department is in Turkish and the duration of study is four years. The department offers undergraduate programs in music theory, instrument training, and voice training.
The Department of Music Education has participated in numerous national and international musical events with its undergraduate student groups, including the Orchestra, Polyphonic Choir, Turkish Folk Music Choir, and Turkish Classical Music Choir, contributing to the city's artistic life.
Students are admitted to the department based on the requirements outlined in the examination regulations, as well as through a "Special Talent Exam" administered by the department.
The Department of Music Education employs a total of 15 faculty members: 8 faculty members, 1 lecturer, 2 research assistants, and 4 externally appointed teachers. It continues its educational activities with 94 undergraduate and 20 graduate students.
